Bridgetown Forge now offers OPEN FORGE on Wednesdays!

Learn more about Monthly Membership

PLEASE NOTE: Oregon governor’s office has allowed a partial opening of businesses, so Bridgetown Forge is pleased to announce the re-starting of Open Forge. However, to insure members and staff safety, we have introduced a series of measures to minimize the risk of transmission.

  • Open Forge is limited to 4 members, to allow proper distancing.
  • Members and staff will be wearing a face shield (supplied by Bridgetown Forge for the duration of the session) during active forging; face masks to be worn at all other times, if preferred. Please remember to bring your mask of choice; home-made masks are acceptable.
  • Hand sanitizer will be supplied and its use encouraged; shared tools, if any, will be disinfected periodically.
  • Door knobs, chairs and other frequently touched spots will be periodically sanitized.
  • Open bay doors and windows and industrial fans will assure efficient and steady ventilation at all times.
  • Members will be verbally screened via email for potential COVID-19 exposure 24 hours before the session, and again verbally before start of the session, to minimize everyone’s chance or exposure.

We appreciate your understanding of the necessity to take these extra precautions during the ongoing pandemic

Open Forge at Bridgetown Forge

Bridgetown’s Open Forge is offered on a monthly membership basis, with two sessions a month, always on a Wednesday, 5:30 to 8:30p.m.

Bridgetown Forge is happy to offer Open Forge! Students with previous class experience can work on their own projects in the smithy, practicing their craft, and forging elements, tools, and utensils of their choosing.

Students will have access to a whole slew of professional smithing equipment, their own anvil and work station, a constant access to a forge, and any hand tool they might need for their project. If we don’t have a tool you need, we’ll make it on the spot.

Membership is $150/month, which includes two 3-hour sessions with full use of the forge, all safety equipment and fuel, and an unlimited amount of mild steel. A nominal fee will be charged for the use of high-carbon or tool steel, should your project require it. I encourage you to discuss your project with me, to ensure maximum efficiency, access to all needed tooling, and to avoid undertaking projects beyond the scope of time and space available.

Please Note: Open Forge is always on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, from 5:30 to 8:30pm.
